James's Bio
James is a singer-songwriter and composer who has found inspiration from all different times and genres. Being the progeny of a couple of baby boomers James grew up listening to classic oldies and classic rock of the 60s and 70s. Artists from this era that had an indelible mark on his mind were The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, The Byrds, and Led Zeppelin. At the same time James growing up in the 90s was also exposed to Grunge music particularly enjoying Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and Jeff Buckley.  James also studied piano for a period of time and played the works of Scott Joplin, Mozart, Bartok, and Chopin.
As a teenager not only did James begin to play the guitar; he began to fill in the gaps in his musical appreciation with Johnny Cash, Black Sabbath, Metallica, and Incubus.
Being so moved by the variety of music in James's life he decided to study music theory at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. While studying music James was exposed to and inspired by the music of Vivaldi, Bach and his sons, Haydn, Brahms, Anton Bruckner, Edvard Greigg, Shostakovich, Miles Davis, and John Coltrane.
This unique combination of influences creates an even more unique outcome for a jazzy, folky, progressive, acoustic rock sound.
